More than a brochure site
Urla Orfeus Sanat is a music school teaching piano and other instruments with conservatory-trained instructors.
Music schools do not run like an ordinary service business. Every student has their own timetable, lessons are tied to specific instructors and specific hours, and payments run on a term basis. In most schools this operation lives in spreadsheets and chat threads, and becomes impossible to follow as the school grows.
The need was not simply “a site that describes our courses”. The site and the school’s daily operation had to sit inside the same system.
Why Next.js
We built the infrastructure from scratch with Next.js, for two reasons.
The first is visibility. Music school searches are local and competitive, and how fast pages load and how correctly search engines read them feeds straight into enrolment numbers. Pages were set up to be generated ahead of time, and the content structure was arranged to be extractable for both classic search and AI search. The wider SEO work follows the same logic.
The second is that an application would be running behind the site. When the marketing pages and the student and lesson management share one codebase, there is no data to shuttle between two separate systems. This is the kind of work we handle as custom software development.
Student and lesson management
Student management system. Student records, which instructor they work with and their attendance are all held in one place.
Lesson scheduling system. Timetables are planned by instructor and by hour. This is the biggest time sink in a music school: instructor availability, a student’s schedule and studio availability all have to hold at once.
Online payment infrastructure. Payments can be collected through the site, so there is no cash or bank transfer to chase.
Local visibility
The school is in Urla and most of its students come from the surrounding area. The content structure was built around that local search behaviour, and course pages were separated by instrument and by level, so a visitor lands directly on the page that matches what they searched for.
Server, maintenance and infrastructure
Server management and regular maintenance are on our side. Updates, backups and performance monitoring run continuously, so the client never has to deal with a separate hosting company when something goes wrong.
Email infrastructure and domain management are ours too. Corporate email accounts, domain renewals and DNS settings are handled from one place.
Ongoing work
The project started in 2024 and continues. We are still building new features into the system.
