What is PayTR and Why Choose It?
PayTR is one of the most popular payment providers in Türkiye. It stands out for its low commission rates and easy integration. As a virtual POS service, it gives e-commerce sites everything they need to accept card payments online — credit cards, debit cards and instalments, all on a single platform.
So why is PayTR integration something merchants struggle with? The most common pain points:
- Embedding the iFrame checkout correctly into the site
- Configuring instalment options per bank
- Setting up the post-payment notification (callback) system reliably — late or missed order confirmations
- Calculating net profit when the model is “commission + fixed fee per transaction”
- Reflecting refunds and cancellations correctly in the accounting books
A professional integration removes all of these issues. After a proper PayTR setup, our clients typically see payment success rates rise by 15-20% — because a well-built checkout reduces drop-off at the payment step. As an independent payment integration specialist, Zeisoft runs the entire technical setup for you.
PayTR Integration Methods
PayTR supports multiple integration methods. Each has its own advantages, and we choose the right one for your e-commerce site.
iFrame (Hosted Checkout) Method
The most common method. A ready-to-use payment form is embedded into your site; the customer enters card details in this form and the payment is processed on PayTR’s infrastructure. The biggest advantage: card data never touches your own server.
Why iFrame works well:
- Fast setup — the payment page comes ready
- Card data is processed in a secure environment that is not your responsibility
- The checkout look and feel can still be customised to match your brand
- Mobile-friendly out of the box
For iFrame to work correctly, the security token must be generated correctly, the payment result notification must be handled, and the order status must be updated reliably. We take care of all of this so you do not have to.
Direct Payment Method
For businesses that want a more customised payment experience, a direct payment method is also available. The payment form is built fully into your site’s design and the customer never leaves your page.
This method offers more flexibility but requires extra security configuration. We help you decide which method fits your business and build the integration accordingly.
Instalments and 3D Secure
Instalment configuration and 3D Secure setup directly affect your payment success rate.
Instalment Configuration
PayTR supports instalment payments from all major Turkish banks. You can offer 2, 3, 6, 9 and 12-month options. Per-bank rules vary — Garanti BBVA, İş Bankası, Yapı Kredi and the rest each have their own instalment structures.
What we configure for instalments:
- Per-bank instalment settings: tracking and configuring up-to-date per-bank rates
- Minimum basket value control: disabling instalments for orders below a defined amount
- Interest display: showing the customer the true instalment cost transparently
- Campaign-period rules: custom instalment behaviour for special periods (Black Friday, end-of-year, etc.)
Instalments (taksit) are a strong customer expectation in Türkiye — leaving them disabled or misconfigured measurably hurts conversion.
3D Secure — Legally Required
3D Secure is mandatory by law for online card payments in Türkiye. It verifies the customer’s identity through an SMS code or mobile bank app confirmation, dramatically reducing fraud risk. Every PayTR integration we deliver includes 3D Secure.
If the 3D Secure step is not configured correctly, customers hit errors at payment and abandon the cart. We test the flow across different payment scenarios to make sure it just works.
Notifications, Refunds and Security
The most critical piece of the integration is the post-payment notification (callback) system. When a payment succeeds or fails, the system has to push the result to your site automatically. If this notification is mishandled, orders are not confirmed — customers pay but see “no order created.”
This is one of the most common complaints in Turkish e-commerce communities: “My customer paid but the order did not register.” It is almost always caused by a poorly configured notification layer.
How the Notification System Works
We build the notification flow end to end:
- Customer pays — enters card details on the secure checkout
- 3D Secure verification — enters the bank confirmation code
- Payment result notification — the system pushes the outcome to your site
- Order confirmation — successful payments create the order automatically and update stock
- Customer notification — the order confirmation email is sent automatically
Error Handling and Notification Security
Notification security is critical. We verify that every callback genuinely originates from the payment provider, preventing fake notifications from creating orders. We also build retry mechanisms so that transient outages do not lose notifications. The result: no payment ever “hangs in mid-air” — every transaction outcome reaches your system safely.
Refunds and cancellations are unavoidable in e-commerce. What matters is that they run cleanly for both your customer and your accounting team. We automate them as part of the integration.
Automatic Refunds
The refund flow:
- Refund request received — from your e-commerce site or manually
- Refund initiated — full or partial
- Funds returned to the customer — automatically through PayTR
- Accounting record updated — refund amount reflected in your books
For partial refunds, only the amount of the returned items is refunded. For instalment payments, the refund is calculated automatically against the bank’s instalment structure.
Cancellations
Orders not yet shipped are faster to cancel. When a cancellation is initiated, funds typically return to the customer’s card within a few business days. All cancellation and refund movements are reported and used in your monthly reconciliation. Cancellation rules can also be customised — auto-cancel after a set period, conditional cancellation based on order status, and so on.
Fraud Protection
Card data is never stored on your server — all payments run through PayTR’s secure infrastructure. We also configure security rules to detect and filter suspicious transactions. This protection layer is especially valuable in e-commerce and retail, where stolen-card fraud is common.
E-Commerce Platforms and Accounting Connections
Whatever platform your e-commerce site runs on, we integrate PayTR into it. Each platform has its own payment flow; we handle those differences for you.
Shopify + PayTR
We integrate PayTR into your Shopify store. Shopify’s native payments are limited in Türkiye, so PayTR fills the gap with full instalment, 3D Secure and local card support. Shopify orders and PayTR payment data are matched automatically and order statuses update in real time.
WooCommerce + PayTR
We install the PayTR payment module on your WordPress-based WooCommerce site. Order status changes, payment confirmation and stock updates run automatically. Thanks to WooCommerce’s flexibility, custom payment scenarios are also supported. We integrate the iFrame method into the checkout cleanly.
İkas, Ticimax and Other Platforms
We deliver smooth PayTR integrations for the Türkiye-specific platforms İkas and Ticimax, as well as the other major Turkish platforms. Within our e-commerce solutions work, we also build PayTR payment infrastructure from scratch on custom-built sites. For e-commerce sites that also rely on marketplace integration, we align the payment flow with the marketplace order flow.
Accounting Software Sync
Manually entering payments into your accounting software stops being viable as soon as order volume grows. We sync payment data automatically with your existing accounting software:
- Payment received — customer pays via the secure checkout
- Order confirmed — order status updates on your e-commerce site
- Accounting record created — gross amount, commission and net amount logged automatically
- Reports updated — daily and monthly sales reports reflect the new data immediately
We connect PayTR data to your accounting software. With e-invoice integration, invoices can also be issued automatically when a payment lands. The result is a fully automated order-to-invoice cycle.
PayTR Commissions and Cost Comparison
PayTR’s biggest selling point is its low commission. Understanding the cost structure correctly directly affects your margins.
PayTR Commission Structure (2026)
PayTR’s standard commission is approximately 2.49% plus a fixed per-transaction fee. Compared to iyzico’s roughly 4.29%, that is a meaningful difference. The catch: the fixed fee can push the effective cost higher on low-value transactions.
Sample calculation:
- On a 500 TL transaction, PayTR commission is roughly 12.45 TL plus the fixed fee
- The same transaction on iyzico would be roughly 21.45 TL
- For an e-commerce site doing 100 transactions per month, that gap adds up to meaningful annual savings
High-volume merchants can negotiate custom rates. Monthly volumes above 100,000 TL typically unlock better terms.
PayTR vs iyzico
Key differences when choosing between iyzico and PayTR:
| Feature | PayTR | iyzico |
|---|---|---|
| Commission | ~2.49% + fixed fee | ~4.29% |
| Bank Agreement | Not required | Not required |
| Marketplace Support | Limited | Strong sub-merchant system |
| iFrame Checkout | Yes | Yes |
| Instalment Support | All major banks | All major banks |
| 3D Secure | Included (mandatory) | Included (mandatory) |
| Settlement Hold | Shorter | 7-60 days |
| Turkish Support | Yes | Yes |
Short answer: for single-vendor e-commerce sites, PayTR wins on cost. For multi-vendor platforms (marketplaces), iyzico’s sub-merchant system is usually the better fit. We can also integrate both in parallel — running PayTR and iyzico side by side on the same site to give customers more payment options.
Settlement Holds and Cash Flow
PayTR’s settlement holds are shorter than iyzico’s. That is a real advantage for newly launched e-commerce sites — you access your sales revenue faster. We help you plan cash flow with these timings in mind.
Integration Process and Timeline
PayTR integration is delivered as a structured project. We keep you informed and aligned at every stage.
1. Discovery and Analysis (1-2 days)
- Review your current e-commerce platform and order volume
- Assess your account status (new vs existing)
- Define instalment rules, payment scenarios and special requirements
- Decide on the integration method (iFrame vs direct payment)
2. Setup and Connection (2-3 days)
- Connect your PayTR account to the integration
- Configure the payment flow with your e-commerce platform
- Set per-bank instalment rates
- Customise the checkout page to match your brand
3. Test and Validation (2-3 days)
- Run tests for different payment scenarios (single payment, instalments, 3D Secure)
- Test refund and cancellation flows
- Validate the payment notification (callback) system
- Verify mobile payment flow
- Validate accounting integration
4. Go Live and Monitoring (1 day + ongoing)
- Switch to production with real transactions
- Heavy monitoring during the first days
- Apply tweaks as needed
- Maintenance and support continues
Total duration: A basic integration takes 1-2 weeks. A comprehensive one (multi-platform + accounting) is 3-4 weeks. If you already have a PayTR account and are only switching platforms, it can be even faster. When PayTR integration is paired with a shipping integration and automated invoicing, the order-to-delivery cycle runs end to end automatically.
